“When I Make a Mistake”
Radiant Rhymes based on the post “Forgive Yourself, So You Can Move Forward”
🌈
When I make a mistake and my heart feels tight,
I remember this: I’m still good inside.
I say what I did – I name it out loud,
Mistakes aren’t secrets, they don’t need a cloud.
I take responsibility, honest and true,
“I could’ve done better” – and that’s okay too.
I’m not a bad kid, I just had a rough day,
Learning is how I grow on my way.
Then I ask myself, “What can I try?”
Next time I’m upset or feelings run high.
I choose one small thing I’ll do instead,
A calmer word, a pause, a breath I’ll spread.
And once I’ve learned what I need to know,
I leave it behind and let it go.
I’m kind to myself, I start anew,
A fresh new moment – with new things to do.
Psst: You can try this rhyme next time your child feels guilt or shame — say it together once things have calmed down.
