Time budgeting

Here is a concept I wish everyone could adopt – think of your time as the most precious currency you have! Because it is. And the tricky part about it is that you don’t actually know how much you have. So many people are wasteful of how they spend their time, I was also one of them and I realized it was one of the things making me continuously unhappy.

Time is precious – the minutes you have in a day and the years you have in a lifetime. Both should be treated with honor and respect, as an appreciation of this special gift from the universe. It should not be taken for granted. So to respect my time, I do feel one of the main things I need to do is to make a plan of how I want to spend my day and make a list of some main things I want to achieve. Where I try to be cautious is to remember that active rest and play is also respect. I am often guilty of planning too much, so I have worked to adjust this through the years.

When you budget your hours, you get more control over how you spend them. Research shows that when we structure our time with intention, we reduce stress and increase our ability to focus on what truly matters.

Having a daily/weekly/monthly plan has really helped me reduce my stress levels. It boosts my fulfillment factor, my confidence and it actually gives me more energy and excitement for what I can do.

Try it now: make a plan in your calendar or simply write it in a place you can see it. Block your time for what is important for you and you will be one step closer to a better quality of life.
