The Comparison Trap

Did you know about the famous Harvard study where people were asked to choose between two options:
đź’° Earning $50K a year while everyone else earns $25K, or
đź’° Earning $100K while everyone else earns $200K?

Surprisingly, most chose the first option.

I heard this in a podcast this morning, and it really struck me — how deeply our sense of worth is influenced by comparison, not by our own growth. It’s human, but also a trap we should be aware of.

The only person you should ever compare yourself to is who you were yesterday. No one shares your story, your path, or your pace. Any other comparison is simply invalid.

So the next time you find yourself slipping into that comparison mindset, pause and ask:
✨ Am I growing?
✨ Am I learning?
✨ Am I evolving — even if it feels uncomfortable?

If the answer is yes, then you’re exactly where you need to be.

RADIANT RHYMES

Don’t count your worth by others’ climb,
Your path is yours, your pace, your time.
The race is won by those who grow,
Not those who rush for praise to show.

So when you’re caught in envy’s snare,
Breathe deep — compare with only where
You stood before, and where you’ll go,
For growth, not glory, marks your glow.

When things feel hard, don’t run away,
Discomfort helps you find your way.
Mistakes just mean you’ve dared to try,
That’s how you learn, that’s how you fly!
