“Inner Applause”

Radiant Rhymes for the times our heart gets racing

Sometimes my tummy flips, my hands feel tight,
My heart beats faster – day or night.
It means something important’s close and near,
So I pause a moment, breathe right here.

When my heart goes thump-thump, fast and loud,
It’s not fear – it’s cheers, I’m feeling proud.
My body’s clapping, saying, “You’re brave today,”
I’m doing something big in my own small way.

So I breathe in slow, and stand up tall,
This beating heart is my inner applause call.
I thank my nerves, then gently start –
With courage leading from my heart.

Psst: You can try this rhyme next time your child feels worried or anxious about something big coming ahead... or maybe just trying to make a new friend.
