state of mind

Why Your State of Mind Comes First

So many people feel stuck not because they don’t know what to do, but because of the state of mind they’re in when they try to do it.
“I can’t lose weight.”
“I’m not good enough for that job.”
“I’m bad at relationships.”

These aren’t facts – they’re stories we repeat until they feel true.

I recently listened to an interview between Lewis Howes and Tony Robbins, and what stood out most was Tony’s emphasis on state over strategy.

Strategy is often clear. Most of us know how to improve our health, career, or relationships. What actually determines whether we move forward is the state we’re in when we begin. In a low, heavy, doubtful state, even the best plan won’t work.

When your state changes, your body chemistry changes. Your posture shifts. Your breath deepens. Your thoughts soften. Suddenly, you become someone who believes action is possible – and momentum follows.

Before starting something challenging, pause and ask yourself:
What state am I bringing into this?
Am I seeing this as a burden – or as an opportunity to grow?
Am I letting fear stop me – or choosing courage despite it?

And if the state isn’t right, don’t force the action.
First, change the state.

Sometimes progress doesn’t begin with doing more –
but with becoming someone who believes they can.

That shift alone can change everything.
